ART HEALS

Friends established the Art Heals program bringing to adult homebound Cheshire residents private art lessons at no charge to the participants. This notable program demands the bulk of Friends’ funding and increasing our revenue allows us to increase the number of yearly participants.

A free community outreach program for any homebound Cheshire adult resident experiencing medical or emotional difficulty.

Previous Art Experience & Talent Not Necessary

“In our experience at Artsplace, we have found that art can have a healing impact on the spirit. If one is diagnosed with a debilitating illness or injury leaving them homebound…being creative can give new enthusiasm for life.” — Joan Pilarczyk

The teachers at Artsplace, while not art therapists, are skilled artists willing to share their knowledge to help a client to complete an original piece of art suitable for framing.

This creative art program will allow these teachers to visit a client in their home for 4 to 6 art lessons.

Supplies are included in the visits, which last approximately 1 1/2 hours per lesson. All that is required is a space, as simple as a kitchen table!

Framing of the finished artwork will be done at no charge by area framers.
